Window of Opportunity

Just a little while ago, we were cleaning up from making apple crisp when my mom asked me to rinse the last two pots. I answered yes and started rinsing, it took a while but when I was done, I noticed that there was still food on the counters and in the sink. Oh dear, The thought had just struck me that I had a window of opportunity to go and get on the internet and check my emails. My mom was in the shower, my dad was busy, and my sister was vacuuming, so there was no one to tell me what to do! I turned around and started towards the entry, only to find daddy bringing in a armful wood to stack in the wood box. So I waited, I didn't feel like saying excuse me, so I waited some more.... All the while my mind whirling, Come on, go back and clean that mess, no it's not that big of a deal! Oh there was a wash rag too that needed rinsed. I remembered that earlier my mom had complemented me for cleaning up so well after making the apple crisp topping. Now what would she think if I left the sink and counters the way they are? Suddenly with determination, I turned around and headed towards the sink and started working, within a few minuets I had the the counter wiped off and the sink and wash rag rinsed. But just as I was finishing, the bathroom door opened and out came mom, declaring that it was time for me to get into the shower. Well, there went my opportunity, but what's more important, losing a window of opportunity or doing what you know that needs to be done?
